The Curado MGL offers the perfect combination of technology, practicality, and cost. Positioned in the middle of Shimano's 'MGL' baitcasting line, and primarily designed for medium and light weight lures, this is a versatile performer that combines strength and refinement.
If you are looking for a mid-priced, high-tech baitcasting reel that can maximize casting performance for medium and light weight lures while having the power to handle strong fish, the Curado MGL will be your perfect reel. The tough choice you will have is whether to choose the 150/151 or the more compact 71, which also offers a range of different speeds. Both are superb and contain the same tournament-proven technology, including the brilliant MGL spool for optimal casting performance, so it really comes down to deciding which size fits your needs. The bottom line is that you really can't go wrong with a Curado MGL.
The combination of the lightweight HAGANE aluminum body, Micromodule Gear, and X-SHIP gives the Curado MGL durability, reliability, and performance. In fact, this line of technology is also found on Shimano's high-end reels, making the Curado's value for money very attractive. But it is the MGL spool that sets this model apart from others. It requires less starting energy when casting, resulting in longer casts and the ability to use light lures more effectively. But don't think this easy-to-cast beauty lacks the power needed to control the toughest fighting fish. A powerful Cross Carbon Drag is mounted on the Curado MGL, so when you need to tighten up, you can be confident you have the power in reserve to take control.
