These shock leaders have been specifically designed for long-range fishing to help you achieve maximum distance without the risk of breakage and are perfect when used in combination with the Long Chuck main line. There are three different combinations of Long Chuck Tapered Leaders, allowing you to match them to the breaking strength of the main line you are using, thus ensuring the cleanest possible knot and also reducing the risk of 'frap-up' (this usually occurs when lines of different diameters are joined and untie when passing through the tip ring). Each leader is 10 m long and features 8 m of 30lb/0.47 mm to absorb casting force and provide some protection during fish retrieval thanks to its abrasion resistance—ideal when fishing over gravel bottoms—and the last 2 m taper from 0.47 mm (30 lb) down to 0.27 mm (10 lb), 0.30 mm (12 lb), or 0.33 mm (15 lb), depending on which of the three versions you choose. The tapered leaders share the same properties as the Long Chuck line, with low elasticity to help compress the rod (heavy mono is generally quite elastic and hinders casting); low water absorption; light for its breaking strength, as it is transparent (dye adds extra weight), so it stays longer in the air; and a high breaking strength to diameter ratio to reduce air resistance. Each spool contains five leaders.
