One of the most classic hook models, since its introduction the Wide Gape has led to a huge number of large carp catches over the years. Based on the traditional and popular classic Maruta Kinryu forked hook model from the 1980s and 1990s, Korda's reinterpretation has made it easier to use by replacing the fork with an eye. The Wide Gape features an eye slightly turned inward, a short shank, a hardened curve, and a very sharp beak point. It can be used with a wide variety of pop-up rigs or bottom baits, and once set, it tends to stay in place. A Wide Gape X version is available for the most extreme fishing situations in the UK or abroad. The Wide Gape XX version, even stronger and more durable, was designed for truly extreme conditions abroad, such as those encountered with huge Siamese carp or Mekong catfish in Thailand. For areas where barbed hooks are prohibited, Korda offers the Wide Gape B. It is sold in packs of ten, and each version of this hook is available in different sizes: 10, 8, 6, 4, and 2 for the Wide Gape; 10, 8, 6, 4, 2, and 1 for the Wide Gape B; 8, 6, 4, 2, and 1 for the Wide Gape XX; and 12, 10, 8, 6, 4, and 2 for the Wide Gape X.
