The Long Chuck Tapered Mainline is designed for long-distance casting in situations where you want to fish directly without a leader knot, particularly useful in areas with weeds that can accumulate around the knot and cause problems under the rod tip. The Long Chuck Tapered Mainline comes on 300 m spools and features an 8 m section at each end with a diameter of 0.47 mm (30 lb) designed to absorb casting force, as well as provide good abrasion resistance during carp playing – plus a tapered 2 m section down to the diameter of the mainline you have chosen. It is exactly the same on both ends, so if you experience a cut, you can simply reverse the line on the spool and reuse it. This tapered line has the same properties as the Long Chuck line, with low stretch to help compress the rod (heavy mono is typically quite elastic and hinders casting); low water absorption; light for its breaking strain since it is transparent (dye adds extra weight), so it stays longer in the air; and a high breaking strain to diameter ratio to reduce air resistance. It is available in 10-30 lb (0.27-0.47 mm); 12-30 lb (0.30-0.47 mm); and 15-30 lb (0.33-0.47 mm).
