In addition to saving a lot of time, the Kamakura sharpening process rivals hand-sharpened hooks. The Kamakura Krank hook features a unique shape, with a very wide gap, a rather short curved shank, and an eye slightly turned inward, a shape emphasized by the shank structure and how it connects to the eye. The slightly beak-shaped point is curved, and this hook shape helps maintain hold after the initial bite. It is a very strong model equipped with a micro barb that keeps a firm grip without compromising hook penetration. Also available in a barbless version, the Krank model can be used with various rigs and is very effective even with a simple knotless knot. It can be used with more complex setups, such as the Spinner Rig, one of Tom Dove's preferred solutions. The point is protected by a wax coating that must be gently removed before use. It is sold in packs of ten hooks, each securely held in place to prevent damage. Available with or without a barb and in sizes 4, 6, or 8.
