Made from high-density polyurethane foam, the Notobug is a very appealing insect imitation, especially enjoyable to use when targeting chub, trout, or bass—all of which are particularly fond of this type of creature!
While the Notobug 30F is easily cast with a spinning rod, the 22F version can be easily used with a fly rod. For both sizes, it is generally recommended to use a UL rod for long, precise casts.
With small taps on the tip, you can make the silicone filament legs of the Notobug vibrate, giving it the appearance of an insect fallen into water and struggling to survive. Another effective animation technique is to retrieve the Notobug with a stop & go, causing it to sink and sway beneath the water surface. During pauses, it surfaces as if to breathe... and is often swallowed!
Finally, the ultimate technique to fool the most cautious fish: leave them inert on the surface near aquatic vegetation or seagrass banks and do nothing!
The new colors for 2025 mark a change in the ballast material used in Notobugs, replacing lead (Pb) with a zinc (Zn)-based alloy. Naturally, this does not affect the effectiveness of this lure, which has become essential for surface fishing for many fish, with chub being the primary target.
