The Bigro SS95 by Maria is an innovative topwater lure with the Claw Hook system! The Maria Bigro SS95 represents the new topwater specifically developed for fishing Hirasuzuki (Japanese blackfin sea bass), a technique where missed surface strikes are extremely frequent. In conditions of waves and foam, the lure is often repelled by the agitated water and traditional trebles placed on the belly struggle to penetrate properly, increasing missed hooksets.
To solve this problem, Maria revolutionized the classic rigging concept by introducing the CLAW HOOK (クローフック): an innovative system with trebles positioned on the sides of the body, right and left, instead of on the belly. This configuration comes from studying the predatory behavior of the Hirasuzuki, which attacks mainly from below upwards ("kuia-ge"), rising quickly and often throwing the lure out of the water. The Hirasuzuki is a territorial predator, very suspicious and with extremely developed vision. It stays near rocks and submerged structures, waiting for prey carried by foam to then strike with sudden ascents. In these conditions, the unstable trajectory of a traditional topwater makes it difficult for the treble to enter the mouth.
The Bigro SS95 project is the result of long development through several prototypes: from the classic 2-hook model, to a version with double belly hooks on a wire (which caused tangles), up to the final model with side hooks. This last solution allowed to maintain unchanged swimming performance while significantly improving the hook-up rate.
During the rolling action typical of surface swimming, one of the side trebles always remains in an optimal position relative to the fish's mouth, facilitating hooking even in the most violent and sudden attacks.
The Maria Bigro SS95 with Claw Hook therefore represents a true evolution in rock fishing topwater lures: more successful hooksets, fewer missed strikes, and maximum effectiveness in the most difficult conditions.
