The Catana Trolling Lite is designed for trolling with live bait and small artificial lures and is available in four power ratings from 6lb to 20lb. The full carbon blank is extraordinarily powerful, very sensitive, and features an excellent semi-parabolic action to compensate for the use of light lines.
If you have never tried light trolling, you should: it is very fun and can be exceptionally successful for small pelagic species. Unfortunately, not many charter boats offer this type of fishing, but with the price of a Catana Trolling Lite being less than a day of fishing on a boat, the option to own your own specialized fishing rod has never been better. And if you have access to a small boat, try trolling for smaller species like sea bass, bonito, and even mackerel.
The Catana Trolling Lite is made of Full Carbon, which is why the blank is so thin, light, and responsive. In the lighter models, the semi-parabolic action is very enjoyable to use, while the more robust models have plenty of power for medium-sized pelagic species. It is interesting to note that the stainless steel Seaguide rings are "spiral mounted" on the blank. This configuration, quite different from a traditional guide setup, leads the line from the top of the rod to the base guide and then to the bottom of the rod through the play section. This results in a fantastic smooth action, especially during fights with unexpected prey. The lightweight aluminum reel seat integrates the front EVA handle and ensures maximum comfort and security when battling larger fish.
