JMC expands the family of legendary semi-automatic fly reels in the YOTO series with another model: the YOTO NYMPH. This modern reel has been specifically designed for the needs of modern nymph fishing, where often only a monofilament line is used without a true tapered leader. To facilitate line retrieval while optimally protecting it from abrasion, the YOTO NYMPH is equipped with a ceramic ring on the lower side, literally embedded in the reel frame. Thanks to the very smooth surface of the ring, the monofilament does not wear out, and at the same time, the extremely hard ceramic material prevents the line from damaging the ring itself. The YOTO NYMPH also features a high line retrieval rate. This means that by operating the reel's lever, about 2 meters of line are wound in. This is very practical in tight-line nymph fishing because with this technique you must always maintain direct contact with the nymphs to fish successfully. When you hook a fish, this lever mechanism allows you to quickly reel in all the slack line to have the fish immediately in direct contact with the reel's drag. Once all excess line is retrieved, the fish can be played using the classic handle present on all reels. Especially when using thin monofilament lines or when fishing for larger fish, retrieving the fish via the reel is much more comfortable than pulling the line by hand. This fly reel cannot be converted from left to right hand, so you must hold the fly rod in your right hand when retrieving with the dedicated handle. The YOTO NYMPH reel is also equipped with a finely adjustable micrometric drag, very easy to operate thanks to a large, easy-to-grip adjustment knob. With the reel drag correctly set, the risk of breaking the tippet during the fight is minimized. Especially in nymph fishing, thin tippets are often used to quickly bring the nymphs down deep, and if the drag is not properly set, there is a real risk of losing the fish. The construction and workmanship of this reel are first-class, as JMC has often accustomed us. Except for the retrieval lever, made of a lightweight composite material for weight reasons, the YOTO NYMPH is fully machined from a block of 6061 aluminum. The weight of this semi-automatic fly reel is surprisingly low: 144 grams. This makes it ideal for balancing rods used in European nymph fishing, which are generally very long. The reel is anodized in an elegant metallic gray, while the drag adjustment knob stands out in a bright orange. Despite the compact size of this fly reel, the spool has a large arbor design, minimizing the annoying memory effect. The YOTO NYMPH's nominal capacity is a WF #3 plus 20 meters of backing. This capacity is more than sufficient for the monofilament lines used in tight-line nymph fishing. A spare spool is available separately for this semi-automatic fly reel. Replacing the spool is easy and quick. The YOTO NYMPH reel is delivered in a neoprene case.
