The Tyrnos and Tyrnos II (2-speed) are some of Shimano's fastest lever drag spinning reels, featuring extra-large gears and an extended crank length for greater torque generation. For added versatility, the larger sizes are also available in a 2-speed (II) option, offering prestigious starting power.
The larger 2-speed Tyrnos (II) models are perfect reels if you fish in deep oceans for very large fish or for drifting in the Mediterranean. In their faster setting, they can pull sinkers from the bottom up to 115 cm per handle turn, but with a simple press of a button, they seamlessly transform into impressive power machines, capable of hauling up the toughest conger or the biggest tuna. However, if you are looking for something lighter to use for jigging, lighter bottom fishing, or trolling, check out the smaller single-speed versions, which are just as fast, hold huge amounts of line (mono or braid), and will give you a lifetime of enjoyment and trouble-free use.
The Tyrnos is robust enough to handle everything the sea can offer. Built on a sturdy aluminum frame, with 4 A-RB (anti-rust) bearings, extra-large stainless steel gears, an aluminum power crank with an oversized rubber grip, and a very powerful drag. The 2-speed models have gears that make them very smooth for seamless transition, and all models feature an ultra-strong clicker, as well as a drag lever that clicks reassuringly into position when adjusted. Precise lever to switch from strike position to full drag, ensuring everything is perfectly set when the fight begins.
