The Ultegra XR proudly stands at the top of Shimano's most popular Ultegra Big Pit/Surfcasting reel family. Equipped with the latest long-distance casting technologies, including Rigid Cast, this incredibly lightweight size 14000 reel is specifically designed to maximize rod speed during long-distance casting while maintaining smoothness even under high retrieval loads.
With a mid-high price range and the list of features contained in the reel, the Ultegra XR is a true long-distance casting machine, offering extreme power during retrieval. Featuring sober colors, a large spool, a compact body made of CI4+ composite, and some of Shimano's best long-distance casting technologies, you certainly won't lack features if you choose the Ultegra CI4+. In use, the reduced weight is appreciated, especially when pushing casting range to the limit. The lightness allows generating higher rod speeds, which combined with other long-distance technologies, including Rigid Cast, lead to increasingly longer casts.
Inside the lightweight CI4+ G FREE body is a combination of HAGANE gears, X-SHIP, INFINITY DRIVE, and SILENT DRIVE working together to produce smooth and powerful rotation, even under extreme pressure and heavy loads. Long-distance casting is enhanced by some of Shimano's leading technologies, including Super Slow 5 Oscillation, Parallel Body, and Rigid Cast, which combine to generate greater distance and supreme accuracy. X-Protect technology prevents water from entering the reel's moving parts, ensuring your reel maintains its performance in all conditions. The Ultegra XR is also equipped with a Hi-Speed drag that can be locked and released with minimal rotation of the adjustment knob, allowing precise fight control at all times.
