A member of the Magnumlite series, the Sustain combines supreme sensitivity and lightness with the strength needed to overcome the toughest situations. Elegant and undeniably stunning, the Sustain pairs perfectly with rods of the same name.
When it comes to reels that turn heads, the Sustain is right up there with the best. The satin black body with chrome accents looks fantastic, but the real beauty of this reel is in how it feels and performs. You will immediately notice how incredibly light it is in hand and the rotation almost defies logic, requiring only minimal pressure to set the rotor in motion. The smaller sizes are perfect for delicate setups, while the 4000 and 5000 sizes offer power to handle the strongest freshwater and saltwater species.
The secret to the Sustain's light rotation is the Magnumlite (MGL) rotor. Built with Shimano's ultra-light Ci4+ composite and perfectly balanced, it provides a light start-up rotation, faster starts, and increased sensitivity. Inside the robust aluminum body is a combination of HAGANE gears, MicroModule II, X-SHIP, and Silent Drive that ensure the best winding performance, with smoothness that enhances the fishing experience and enjoyment. And when you hook a powerful fish, you can be confident that the Cross Carbon Drag will give you the power and reliability you expect from a Shimano reel.
X-Protect technology makes the Sustain safe for saltwater use, and for long-distance casting, the Long Stroke spool design and AR-C spool provide extra meters.
